Annual Latino Youth Leadership Conference

The southeast's premier leadership event for Latino youth provides a unique opportunity to spend a day in dialogue with community leaders and experts surrounding topics of such relevance as leadership development, higher education, cultural awareness, and challenges facing today's youth. Additionally sessions are provided for parents on navigating the U.S. educational system, and for teachers on cultural awareness and skills. A College and Resource Networking Experience further enhances the participant experience with more immediate real world opportunities. The conference takes place on a college campus, breaking down real and perceived educational barriers.

Academic and cultural initiative (after school and summer programs)
The after school and summer programs provide a safe and nurturing environment where children spend their out of school time. Each student receives academic tutoring, personal enrichment activities, and a variety of art and dance classes. Our partnership with the Atlanta Ballet and other organizations provide children with new skills and the confidence that comes with learning a new discipline.

Life plan mentoring program
The Life Plan Mentoring Program pairs our After-School Program student participants one-to-one with strong role models who provide them with a positive influence and help them reach their full potential.

Mentors are carefully selected to inspire the students with the value of education while providing guidance and motivation. To maximize our impact in the provision of this program, we have partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters, a nationally recognized mentoring organization.

If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please contact Rebeca DeGraffenriedt at 404-601-7154 or rebeca.degraffenriedt@bbbs.org or if you need more information about the program and the partnership please contact Janie McNair at 404-248-2214 or jmcnair@latinamericanassoc.org.
