FAMILY
At the LAA we believe that healthy families are the basis for healthy communities. For this reason, our Department of Family Services is equipped with professionals that go above and beyond to help to protect their clients’ interests, provide a healthy environment for their families, and secure their path to self-sufficiency.
General Services include emergency assistance with food, clothing, transportation, and financial help, as well as information and references about social services.

Program against domestic violence
For anyone who fall victim to domestic violence, this program exists to provide them with social services, legal assistance, support groups, and counseling. They will find a safe and stable environment with professionals who will offer them help to get out of their abusive situation.

Program for the protection of children
This program is dedicated to Latino families who find themselves in at-risk situations, in order to prevent child abuse at home.

Program for Latino fathers
This program promotes communication between fathers and their children with the goal of strengthening the confidence between both. Through the help of this program, each participant learns about the responsibility of being a father and how to tend to the needs of their children.

Building strong families
Happy couples form strong families! The learning workshops and support groups that this program offers give the resources needed to improve the communication and the relationship within couples.

Program for the homeless
This program offers emergency services to the homeless. This program helps them to find a stable home in addition to offering emergency financial assistance if the person qualifies and helps to create a long-term repayment plan.

Our Department of Family Services has close partnership with the following organizations:
- Atlanta Legal Aid, providing consultations twice a week in divorce cases and customer service.
- U.S. Social Security Administration, assisting once a month with applications and lost cards.
- DFCS, receiving applications for food stamps in DeKalb county twice a month.
